The Intent of the School

The intent of the school is to explore a totally different kind of education which creates the freedom to bring about clarity in the mind. Only when there is total freedom, can there be a meaningful contribution to society. Therefore we would like to help the child to be psychologically stable, to have the necessary skills to earn a livelihood and to function sanely in society. From this direct sense of what it means to be free, all else must flow.

There are some fundamental questions that shape the intent of the school:

Is it possible to awaken the deepest intelligence a human being is capable of?

In such a state of awakening, can one come upon order, truth and the sacred?

Can there be deep questioning of all structures that limit us?

Can education in the truest sense free the mind from conditioning and bondage?

It seems sadly true that we are driven by a need for security. What is security but a level of meaningless comfort which happens through conforming and capitulating? This transient and illusory state can only result in a lack of independence and self-confidence because we are under the impression that an outside body determines success, happiness and creativity.

The tragedy is that in spite of our immense capacity and progress both intellectually and physically, we have remained at the same place psychologically. Violent, full of anxiety, driven by knowledge, pleasure seeking and empty of relationship.

Responsibility, discipline, earning a livelihood, excellence, compassion and relationship, all come together as one movement and not as fragmented parts to be strung together.

We are clear that we will start small and start right.
